Core Series

Diary of a chronically ill neurodivergent female

This series details my life of living with a chronic pain disorder—ehlers danlos—and ADHD. Through deeply personal and candid posts, I share the ups and downs of managing chronic illness, balancing motherhood, and navigating relationships, all while embracing moments of joy and resilience.

New posts in this series are published every Thursday.

What Else to Expect

In addition to this series, I share a weekly post every Tuesday that covers a wide range of topics, from self-help strategies and mental health insights to feminist reflections and parenting stories. Each week brings something new, offering a mix of thought-provoking and relatable content.

Whether you’re here for practical advice, shared experiences, or simply a moment of connection, my hope is that you find comfort and inspiration in these pages. Welcome to the journey—we’re in this together!

About me

Hi there! I'm Vikky, an academic researcher, writer, and proud advocate for neurodivergent voices. After years of navigating various diagnoses, I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, a discovery that transformed how I see myself and the world.

My research focuses on gender differences in ADHD, exploring the unique challenges women face, particularly those of us diagnosed later in life. Through my work, I aim to shed light on the intersections of neurodivergence, gender, and mental health.

I’m also passionate about sharing my lived experiences as a neurodivergent woman, with a neurodivergent daughter and all that comes with navigating both mine and her struggles.

You may have seen my writing in Times Higher Education, where I discuss the realities of being a neurodivergent academic. I have rather lofty ambitions of having my own column and writing a book—projects that reflect my mission to amplify underrepresented perspectives in the academic world and beyond.

On this Substack, you’ll find my reflections on mental health, feminism, society and the delicate balance of living between the lines of neurodivergence.

Thank you for joining me on this journey!
